The Sun Burns An Image Into My Eye 2023
This two-channel video installation asks, are we permeable? Can we reach across distances, through what remains? Viewers are invited to look over a 'table' and gaze out a 'window' to look closely at the transformative cycles meandering through mundane life—of baking, gardening, mushrooms decomposing dead animals, a leaky shower—to look for resonance, insight, and meaning.
Shannon Liang (US) is an artist whose work arises from a process of daily documentation and self-archiving. Her practice looks through a perspective of empathy, and spans writing, video installation, performance, and drawing. Recent research explores permeability and interconnection across chemical, emotional, generational, and spiritual distances.
